Supported file types
The VIP File System recognizes a limited set of file types as valid. Any files of a type that are included in this set can be imported to the File System with VIP-CLI.
WordPress core has its own set of recognized file types that differs from the set supported by the VIP File System.
WordPress supported file types
WordPress core has its own set of file types that are recognized as valid. This set of file types can be modified to include file types supported by the VIP File System by using the upload_mimes filter.
In addition, the set of file types that are enabled for upload by default differ slightly for WordPress single sites and for WordPress multisites.
In WordPress multisite, some of the file types that are recognized as valid by WordPress are not initially enabled for upload. To enable one of these file types, they must be added to the field labeled “Upload file types” located in the Network Admin –> Settings screen by a Super Admin. This step is also necessary for any file types that have been added using the upload_mimes filter.
