Edge cache servers

The WordPress VIP Platform’s content delivery network (CDN) is a global network of edge cache servers, each used to store and serve content closest to an end user.

Note

Some third-party performance scans may not recognize VIP’s CDN due to content being served from the same domain as the site hosted on VIP.

The initial request for content to an edge cache server results in content being retrieved from the origin server. A static version of that content is then cached at the edge. The cached version of the content is served by the edge cache server located closest to the user making the request, which provides low latency and very high site performance for the site’s traffic.

Insights into the edge cache hit rate for HTTP requests that are made to an environment can be reviewed in the Insights & Metrics panel of the VIP Dashboard
