Overview # Overview When viewing an application’s environment in the VIP Dashboard, the Overview panel provides a snapshot of environment health and recent activity, as well as access to key resources. This landing page provides a starting point for application management. ## Access **Prerequisite** Users with [access to the VIP Dashboard](https://docs.wpvip.com/manage-user-access/vip-dashboard/) for an application with any role are able to view the Overview panel for all of its environments. 1. Navigate to the [VIP Dashboard](https://dashboard.wpvip.com/) for an application. 2. Select an environment from the **Environment** dropdown menu located at the upper left. 3. The Overview panel loads as the default landing page for that environment. To return to it after navigating elsewhere in the VIP Dashboard, select **Overview** in the left navigation menu. To access other environments in the application, select the **Environment** dropdown menu at the upper left. A checkmark is displayed beside the name of the environment currently being viewed. Select the desired environment from the dropdown list. ## Quick actions The top right of the Overview panel provides direct links for the selected application environment: * **GitHub Repo:** Opens the application’s GitHub repository, if available. * **Visit Site: **Opens the environment’s primary URL in a new tab if a primary domain has been set. * **WP Admin:** Opens the WordPress Admin dashboard in a new tab (WordPress environments only). ## Stat cards Stat cards at the top of the Overview panel summarize the environment’s current state. Each card links to the corresponding panel of the VIP Dashboard for more detail. | Stat card | What it displays | WordPress environments | Node.js environments | | **Security Status** | Overall security health of the environment (**Excellent**, **Good**, **Baseline**, or **Vulnerable**) and the number of active recommendations. | x | | | **Defensive Mode** | When [Defensive Mode](https://docs.wpvip.com/security-controls/defensive-mode/) is enabled, shows the number of requests blocked in the last three days. (Replaces **Security Status** for Node.js applications.) | | x | | **Database** | Current database size and time until the the next [automated backup](https://docs.wpvip.com/databases/backups/). | x | | | **Log Shipping** | [Log Shipping](https://docs.wpvip.com/logs/log-shipping/) configuration status and a link to configuration. (Replaces **Database** for Node.js applications.) | | x | | **Traffic** | Total request volume in the past 24 hours with a percentage change indicator. | x | x | | **Software** | Installed runtime version and whether software is up to date. | x | x | | **Plugins** | Number of installed [plugins](https://docs.wpvip.com/plugins/) and any reported vulnerabilities. | x | | | **Domain** | Primary domain name, [TLS certificate renewal date](https://docs.wpvip.com/tls/), and any issues requiring attention. | x | x | | **Deploys** | The time since the last deployment to this environment. (Replaces **Traffic** when the user does not have permission to view [Insights & Metrics](https://docs.wpvip.com/performance/insights-metrics/) for the environment.) | x | x | ## Metrics chart **Prerequisite** The metrics chart only appears for launched applications that have metrics and users with permission to view [Insights & Metrics](https://docs.wpvip.com/performance/insights-metrics/) for the environment. A chart below the stat cards displays data for a selected performance metric. Origin Response Time over the past 24 hours is displayed by default. Two controls allow customization: * **Metric dropdown menu:** Select a different performance metric from the dropdown menu in the chart title. Options: **Origin Response Time **(default), **Origin Response Codes**, **Origin 500 Response Rate**, or **Edge Response Codes**. * **Timeframe menu:** Select the `⋮` menu at the top right of the chart to adjust the displayed time range to one of the available presets. Options: **3 hours**,** 24 hours** (default), **3 days**, **7 days**, or **30 days**. Neither of these control settings are saved. Both reset to their defaults when the Overview panel is reloaded. The chart plots up to four series depending on the selected metric, including ** P50**, **P75**, **P95**, and a **VIP-wide Baseline P95**. The **VIP-wide Baseline P95** is calculated from the same metric across all production environments on the VIP Platform and provides a performance reference point. Select **See the full chart** at the bottom to open the [Insights & Metrics](https://docs.wpvip.com/performance/insights-metrics/) panel. ## Latest Activity **Prerequisite** **Latest Activity** is only available to users who can view the [Audit Log](https://docs.wpvip.com/logs/audit-log/) and [Deployments](https://docs.wpvip.com/code-deployment/default-deployment/deploying-branches/deployments-panel/) panels. Users with only one of these permissions see only that activity. The **Latest Activity** feed shows the five most recent events for the environment, including deployments, WP-CLI commands, and automated VIP Platform events. Each entry shows the event type, timestamp, and the user or system that triggered it. Select the `⋮` menu at the top right of **Latest Activity** to switch between ** Latest activity** (default) and **Deploys**. When **Deploys** is selected, the feed shows only recent deployments. The link at the bottom changes to **See all deployments** to point to the [Deployments panel](https://docs.wpvip.com/code-deployment/default-deployment/deploying-branches/deployments-panel/). ## Contextual cards The right column of the Overview panel contains cards with additional environment resources. | Card | What it displays | | **Team** | User avatars for everyone with access to the application and the total user count. Users with the [Org admin role](https://docs.wpvip.com/manage-user-access/vip-dashboard/org-roles/) can select **View details** to manage team members and roles. | | **Feature Discovery** | How many of the VIP Platform’s available features are active on the environment. Select **Explore more features** to review more possibilities in the Feature Discovery panel. | | **Integrations** | Select **Manage integrations** to view the [Integrations](https://docs.wpvip.com/integrations/) panel and connect third-party tools. | | **Premium Services** | Available premium [services](https://wpvip.com/services/), such as Performance Evaluations, Launch Day, and Migration services. Select **View Details** to learn more. | | **VIP Customer Hub** | Links to the [VIP Customer Hub](https://customerhub.wpvip.com), a community for WordPress VIP customers. | | **Developer Certification & Resources** | Links to [VIP Learn](https://learn.wpvip.com) for developer certification and training resources. | | **Site Launch Wizard** | Launches the step-by-step launch guide. Displayed for environments that are not yet launched. | ## Troubleshooting ### Traffic stat card is not visible The **Traffic** stat card requires user permission to view [Insights & Metrics](https://docs.wpvip.com/performance/insights-metrics/) for the environment. The **Deploys** stat card appears in its place for users without this permission. ### Metrics chart is not visible The metrics chart only appears for launched applications that have metrics and users with permission to view [Insights & Metrics](https://docs.wpvip.com/performance/insights-metrics/) for the environment. ### Stat card shows `—` or an ‘unavailable’ message Data for that card could not be loaded. Reload the VIP Dashboard. If the issue persists, [contact VIP Support](https://wordpressvip.zendesk.com/). ### Domain card shows ‘issues need attention’ One or more domains associated with the environment have a configuration problem( examples: [DNS](https://docs.wpvip.com/domains/point-dns-to-vip/) is not pointing to VIP, an unverified domain, or a broken [Let’s Encrypt](https://docs.wpvip.com/tls/lets-encrypt/) renewal). Select the **Domain** card to open the [Domains & TLS](https://docs.wpvip.com/vip-dashboard/application-view/domains/) panel for details. ### Selections not saved The metrics chart and **Latest Activity** feed have options that can be selected to adjust what’s displayed. These selections do not save, and default settings are restored on the next visit to the Overview panel. Last updated: May 22, 2026
