#  WooCommerce

[WooCommerce](https://woocommerce.com/) is a free ecommerce plugin authored by [Automattic](https://automattic.com/)
and compatible with WordPress [single sites ](https://docs.wpvip.com/wordpress-single-site/)
and WordPress [multisites](https://docs.wpvip.com/wordpress-multisite/).

The [WooCommerce plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce/) can be downloaded
and installed by following VIP’s documentation for [adding plugins](https://docs.wpvip.com/plugins/installing-plugins/)
to a VIP application.

For some sites on the VIP Platform, WooCommerce might perform as expected without
code modifications. However, [customization for WooCommerce](https://docs.wpvip.com/woocommerce/customizing-woocommerce/)
might be needed based on the size of a product list, the volume of orders received
each day (or hour), the number of countries where transactions can occur, and more.
