# Configure Integration

An Integration’s activation options for an environment and additional configuration
instructions (where applicable) are displayed in the **Configure Integration** panel
for a selected Integration type (e.g. [Enterprise Search](https://docs.wpvip.com/enterprise-search/),
[Parse.ly](https://docs.wpvip.com/parse-ly/)).

Links to additional information about the Integration’s publisher and available
documentation are displayed in the right-hand column of the panel.

## Activate an Integration

Integration activations are **environment-specific**. Before activating an Integration,
confirm that the correct environment has been selected. A different environment
belonging to the application (e.g., staging, develop) can be selected from the environment
dropdown menu located at the upper-left of [the VIP Dashboard](https://docs.wpvip.com/vip-dashboard/).

The steps required to fully activate and configure an Integration for a site will
differ depending on the chosen Integration.

### Activate for an environment

In the **Activate Integration** section of the **Configure Integration** panel,
activate the Integration for the environment by toggling the switch to “Active” (
green background with a white check mark).

After an Integration is activated for an environment, additional steps and configurations
might be required before the Integration is running as expected. If additional steps
are required, instructions are displayed post-activation below the Activate Integration
section.

### Activate for a network site on WordPress multisite

**Note**

Some Integrations can only be network-activated, and cannot be selectively activated
on an individual network site.

After an Integration has been activated for a WordPress multisite environment, the
configuration panel for each network site can be accessed within the table titled“**
Network Sites**“.

Information displayed in the **Network Sites** table includes each site’s **ID**,**
Site URL**, Integration activation **Status** (not applicable to all Integrations),
and linked text with the value “**Configure**” for access to the site’s **Configure
Integration** panel.

In the Network Sites column labeled “**Actions**” for an Integration:

 1. Select the linked text with the value “**Configure**“.
 2. In the section labeled “**Activate Integration**“, activate the Integration for
the network site by toggling the switch to “Active” (green background with a white
    check mark).

## Deactivate an Integration

Integrations are environment-specific. A different environment belonging to the
application (e.g., staging, develop) can be selected from the dropdown located at
the upper-left of the VIP Dashboard.

In the section labeled “**Activate Integration**“, deactivate the Integration by
toggling the switch to “Inactive” (grey background with a white “x”).

### Deactivate for a network site on WordPress multisite

**Note**

Some Integrations can only be network-deactivated, and cannot be deactivated from
an individual network site.

In the Network Sites column labeled “**Actions**” for an Integration:

 1. Select the linked text with the value “**Configure**“.
 2. In the section labeled “**Activate Integration**“, deactivate the Integration by
toggling the switch to “Inactive” (grey background with a white “x”).
 3. Confirm deactivation of the Integration in the confirmation dialog box by selecting
    the button labeled “**Confirm**“.
